In a world-first, Purple Heart hero Danielle, a U.S. Army veteran who lost her arm in service, has been fitted with a Hero RGD™, the most advanced bionic arm on the market. We joined forces with the Call of Duty Endowment to create two bold looks for her bionic arm. Forged for toughness. Built for resilience. Ready for action.
What began as a fight for survival when she lost her arm to a rocket-propelled grenade turned into a life mission to help others see the possibilities. Today, she is a public speaker and advocate, supporting veterans as well as the limb difference community. She is also the first veteran in the world to be fitted with a Hero RGD™.
“
I love all the finer details of the design. The Call of Duty Endowment bionic arm covers are inscribed with the date of my combat injury and the mantra ‘Never Broken’.
”

“
This Hero RGD carries more meaning than I can put into words. The Purple Heart design makes it deeply personal, like carrying my medal with me every day. My hope is that other veterans see it as a sign of strength and possibility.
”
Danielle’s second set of bionic arm covers feature a bold purple and chrome design, echoing the Purple Heart medal she received after her combat injury. For Danielle, the custom design and colors are symbolic of her survival, sacrifice, and the pride she carries every day.

We set out to create two designs that merge gameplay-inspired elements with real-world toughness. Working with the Call of Duty Endowment team and Danielle, who was central to the design decision-making, we refined everything from materials to finishes. The military-inspired design brings a duty-first aesthetic with strong lines and textured surfaces. The purple heart tribute design integrates deep purple kevlar with laser-engraved detailing, finished with scratch-resistant coating, built for durability and seamless interchangeability.
Built tough from Nylon PA12 and titanium, Hero RGD™ (Rugged) is a 3D printed bionic arm that lets you carry up to 77 lbs, withstand impacts, and tackle tasks with precision rain or shine.

“
Partnering with Open Bionics to deliver this groundbreaking Hero RGD prosthetic is a powerful way to honor her service and help other veterans find meaningful careers after their service. – Helene Imperiale, Senior Director, the Call of Duty Endowment
