Open Bionics is opening a clinic in Detroit, Michigan, and appointments are now open. Allysa Meinburg, a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist who grew up in Michigan, trained across two states, and has spent her residency and early career working with patients in the Detroit Metro area and the Thumb, will be seeing patients there.
Patients in Southeast Michigan can now book with Allysa directly, closer to home.
Allysa was born and raised in Michigan. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Michigan Tech in the Upper Peninsula, then went on to earn her Master’s in Prosthetics and Orthotics at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
From there, she came back to Michigan for her residency in the Detroit Metro area, and has since worked in the Thumb. Joining the new Detroit clinic means she is now treating patients in the same community she trained in.
Allysa works with both adults and pediatric patients, across a range of settings.
Before prosthetics, Allysa’s background was in engineering and fabrication, and it still shapes how she works with patients today.
I have an engineering and fabrication background, and these skills have given me a greater mechanical understanding of the devices I work with so I can build better connections with my patients.
That same mechanical curiosity shows up outside the clinic too. Allysa coaches FIRST Robotics teams, competes in and helps manage electric kart racing events, and has even dabbled in BattleBots.
She also has a passion for the Olympics and Paralympics, and for helping her patients get back to being active and playing sport.
Every Open Bionics clinic runs on one principle: one clinician owns your care, from your first call through fitting and every appointment after. Detroit patients get that same clinician-led path with Allysa.
The clinic fits both children and adults, and every socket is custom-printed to the patient’s own anatomy. Allysa and her team help with insurance, Medicaid, VA/TRICARE, and self-pay from the first conversation, and handle the paperwork and appeals along the way.
Every device comes with HeroCare, a three-year warranty that includes free follow-up appointments and a design saved for life, so it can be reprinted as a patient’s body changes.
Across the Open Bionics network, patients rate their experience 5 out of 5 stars, based on more than 400 verified reviews.
Detroit-area patients no longer need to travel out of the region for prosthetic and orthotic care. Allysa brings hands-on engineering knowledge, residency experience in the Detroit Metro area, and a personal commitment to keeping patients active, right to a clinic in their own community.
Allysa Meinburg is now seeing patients at our new Detroit clinic. Book your consultation in 60 seconds and get started.
